Ivy Hedge's Wonderful Teachers

Miss Candy Miss Candy

My name is Miss Candy and I am the Pre-K art teacher as well as the Assistant Director at Ivy Hedge.  I have proudly taught art for 29 years and have taught to two generations. I love working patiently with the children while encouraging them to make their very own master pieces.

Miss Judy

Hi, I’m Ivy Hedge’s Pre-K reading readiness teacher. I have a degree in Early Child Education from Lasell College in Massachusetts. I came to Ivy Hedge in 1981 and haven’t left except for some maternity leave. I am proud to say all of my own children and my grandson are graduates of Ivy Hedge. You might say it’s a family affair! And, Ivy Hedge is a family. Not only is it a great place to send your child it is a great place to work. So come visit me in what Miss Candy calls “Judytown”.

Miss Ellen

This is my 11th year teaching the beginners at Ivy Hedge. I taught Gymboree for nine years and read during children’s story time at Barnes and Noble as well. I love making arts and crafts with the little ones, it’s a wonder what they can do! My favorite month is March because it is Food Month at Ivy Hedge. Making fruit salad with the kids is a lot of fun. My daughter is now 21 years old and is also a proud Ivy Hedge graduate.

Miss Sue

Hello, I first came to Ivy Hedge as a parent with my oldest daughter. I was so impressed with the curriculum and I felt an immediate bond with the staff and teachers. All three of my children attended and graduated from Ivy Hedge. What I love most about working here is to see the excitement on the children’s faces when they learn something new. I also love all the hugs I get when the children come to school.

Miss Kerry

Hi! I am Miss Kerry and I am honored to be part of the Ivy Hedge family. I am the Pre-K math and science teacher. I look forward to seeing your children, who now have become my friends, in my classroom each day. I am a proud mom of two extraordinary boys, who share my enthusiasm for my wonderful job. I have two simple goals for my classroom every day: to help my friends learn and to make them smile!

Miss Maria

My name is Maria Sottile (Miss Maria) and I love teaching music and movement classes at Ivy Hedge. I hold an Associate's Degree from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan, where I studied classical and musical theatre, vocal production, stage movement and dance. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education with a Special Education Certification. Since 1996, I have been teaching parent and child classes for the Monmouth County Parks System and the Ocean Township Recreation Department. Also, I have been a member of the Ivy Hedge family since 2002. It truly is a joy to see how each child internalizes and interprets music for themselves. My hope is to inspire a lifelong love of music, one rhythmic tune at a time!

Miss Karen

My name is Miss Karen and I work with Miss Sue in the Nursery Class. Both of my boys, ages 14 and 11, attended Ivy Hedge. I loved the atmosphere so much I came back once I decided to do something fun outside the home. I have a B.A. in Sociology and have substituted in the Ocean Township School district. And, I love to work with the kids at Ivy Hedge!

Miss Jamie
Miss Marissa

Hi, my name is Marissa and I am the Kindergarten Enrichment teacher at Ivy Hedge. This is my third year teaching here and I have truly enjoyed getting to know all of the wonderful children! I have a degree in Elementary Education and English from Monmouth University. It is great to be part of the Ivy Hedge family and an honor to be part of a child’s learning.

Miss Julie

My son graduated from Ivy Hedge, where he was welcomed into his first educational environment away from home with open arms, kindness and love, and where learning is meaningful and exciting! I spent 10 years teaching in early childhood classrooms in both New York City and New Jersey, and am grateful to be part of the Ivy Hedge staff. I hope to create the same wonderful learning experiences my son had with all of the children in my class.

Miss Brittany
Miss Robin

Hello, this is my first year at Ivy Hedge and I am very excited to be working here! I have three children of my own ages 16, 13, and 10. Through the years I have volunteered for many school organizations like the PTA, National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, and Foundation for Education. I am currently a Girl Scout leader and have been involved with the troop for six years. It has been a very rewarding and exciting experience. The years truly fly by so please enjoy this special age with your children. I look forward to spending the school year with each and every one of your children!

Miss Cindy

Miss Cindie

My name is Cindie Sariotis and I run the office at Ivy Hedge. I have many years experience with nursery schools; my father-in-law owned Oakhurst Country Day School and Camp for 40 years. I worked for him in many different capacities: teacher, secretary, camp counselor, and even bus driver! When Melissa offered me a job at Ivy Hedge, I did not know what to expect. What a wonderful school! We have fabulous teachers who run unbelievable programs at each grade level. Along with answering the phone and other office duties, I get to know and love each and every child! The best part of my day is giving out treats, stickers, and hugs. I have the best job in the world! I feel very blessed not only to work with wonderful people but to get to know all of our amazing Ivy Hedge families.
